What I collect, how I use it, and how to get it removed.
This is the privacy policy for shanesscott.com, operated by Scott’s Consulting LLC (“Shane,” “I,” or “my”). It explains what information the site collects, how I use it, and the choices you have.
Plain-language version: I collect what you send me through the contact form so I can respond to inquiries. I use Google Analytics to understand which pages get read. I do not sell your data. I do not run advertising. If you want your data removed, email me and I will remove it.
When you submit the contact form, I collect the name, email address, project type, referral, and message you provide. I use this information only to reply to your inquiry, discuss potential work, and follow up if you choose to become a client. I retain contact form submissions in my email inbox and in a small audit log on the server so I can spot repeat submissions and diagnose delivery problems.
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic patterns. GA4 sets cookies in your browser and records information including the pages you view, how long you stay, your general location (usually to the city level, derived from your IP address), the device and browser you use, and how you arrived at the site. This information is aggregated and used to improve the site.
The web server also records standard access logs, including your IP address and the requests you make. These are used for security and diagnostics.
I do not share your information with any other third parties, and I do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Contact form submissions live in my email inbox indefinitely, or until you ask me to delete them. Server audit logs are retained for six months and then rotated. Google Analytics data is retained according to my GA4 configuration (currently fourteen months).
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish unique visitors. You can block or delete these through your browser settings without affecting site functionality.
This site is not directed to children under thirteen and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
If I change this policy, I will update the effective date at the top of the page. Substantive changes will be noted here for at least thirty days.
