The plain-language rules of using the site and working together.
These terms cover use of shanesscott.com and any consulting or creative services delivered by Scott’s Consulting LLC (“Shane,” “I,” or “my”). Using the site means you accept these terms.
Everything on this site, including copy, design, code, images, and case studies, is my work or licensed to me. Feel free to link to any page. Do not copy substantial portions without permission.
When we work together on a project, the terms of that engagement are set in a separate proposal or agreement between us. That document controls scope, price, timeline, deliverables, and any specific intellectual property arrangements. The general defaults, absent something we agree to instead:
I stand behind the quality of my work and will address defects in scope and reasonably close to delivery. I do not warrant results (for example, that a specific marketing campaign will achieve a specific outcome). To the extent permitted by law, my total liability for any claim related to my work is limited to the amount you paid for the specific project the claim relates to.
If you participate in the private Affiliates Program, the terms on that page (twenty percent commission on the referred client’s first paid invoice, payable via PayPal or as credit toward your next project) apply.
Either party can end an engagement in writing at any time. If you end work in progress, you pay for time and materials expended up to that point. Deposits are non-refundable once work has begun.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute we can’t resolve directly is subject to the courts of New York, New York.
If I update these terms, I’ll change the effective date above and note substantive changes here for at least thirty days.

This is a plain-language summary designed for a small consulting practice. It is not a substitute for a project-specific engagement letter, and it is not legal advice. Larger engagements should be governed by a signed statement of work drafted or reviewed by an attorney.
